WE DANCE TO THE SAME BEAT

Oil & acrylic on premium cotton canvas, 2025

50 cm x 75 cm

SOLD

A commission for my dearest Cuz.

This piece is a rhapsodic challenge to the hate mongers, inspired by Misha Japanwala’s sculpture titled “Firaaq – the ache of separation” currently on display at the Hannah Traore Gallery …

We are the rivers of the Indus

Progeny of a civilisation

That danced long before the lines were drawn

Woven in threads of raag and rhythm

To verses from Khusro and Ghalib

Raising a toast to love unbroken

A timeless yearning to be One

Hennaed palms, bangles, and saris

Payals tinkling on stone floors

And oh, the jhumkas - what jumkha!

All swaying to the magic of the dhol

We are not fragments

We are the same song

We dance to the same beat
