The Wizard’s Game

As the year draws to an end

Time to look back

To wonder and reflect

On the ingenuity and mischief

On the simplicity of His rules

On waves and tides

Cycles and seasons

Days and nights

Sunshine and rain

Of reversion to mean

A return to gravity

A belief in humility

The timelessness of His laws

The consistency of deception

His most intelligent creation

On whom He has endowed

Cognition and reflection

Intuition and perception

Sense and sensibilities

Greed and ambition

A sense of immortality

The Wizard’s mischief

As He watches from above

Like a Play Station game

Always entertaining, always amusing

As it evolves with time

Cleverer than ever

Always innovating

Testing and pushing

The rules of the game

With hallucinations and mirages

The impossible believed

The incredible achieved

The Wizard forgotten

The greed and ambition

All consuming, all empowering

But as night follows the day

A reversion to mean

The return to gravity

With a pop of the bubble

A lesson in humility

A belief in mortality

A reminder from the Wizard

He designed the game

It’s played by His rules
